The new Regions are discussing the possibility of establishing new linked tele infrastructures. A thought through design aimed for the future could imply great savings, but the planning of such a net is quite complex and is faced with many pitfalls, which sparring and assistance from Netplan could, however, prevent. As examples of the construction and restructuring of the tele infrastructure, we could mention:
- Region Midtjylland (centre Jutland), where Netplan is e.g. developing a total network strategy for the hook-up of all units in the new region in central Jutland.
- Region Hovedstaden (Copenhagen capital), where Netplan is analysing telephony and the communication platform in the new hospital organisation.
- Frederiksborg Amts Sygehusvæsen (hospital sector of the former Frederiksborg county), where Netplan has assisted in the building up of a 155 MBit network for transportation of e.g. digital x-ray pictures.
- Region Syddanmark, where Netplan is assisting in the redesign, tender and implementation of a new network.
Especially in the new Regions in Denmark, the potential of quite considerable optimisation exists. This is none the least due to the fact that through many years the former counties have had a great need for communication. The existing infrastructure can now be exploited in a far more efficient manner both as regards technology and procurement possibilities.
